The special family atmosphere fostered at Matahui Road School places students within a supportive and positive culture where individuality is respected and valued. Children of all ages play together through both planned classroom activities and unstructured play.
Parents become friends and family of our school. Family members are encouraged to become involved with their children’s learning through hands-on activities, involvement with sporting activities and as experts in class.
An open door policy is maintained at all times throughout the school.
Effective communication between home and school ensures goals are met and concerns are addressed quickly and smoothly.
Matahui Road School maintains a very high standard in sports. A large number of our students play soccer in the regional league, and they also find time to compete in cross country, athletics, swimming, and volleyball. The level of participation and skill shown by our teams reflects our commitment to teamwork and sound skill development as well as the dedication of our parent coaches. In 2012, Matahui Road School was proud to be awarded the national title of State Kiwi Swim Safe School of the Year.
An optional family organised ski trip has been a tradition for many years at Matahui Road School. It is an opportunity to experience the mountain, develop skills and strengthen school community. A new community event is a family organised camping trip for those who prefer warmer climes!
