Matahui Road School is a Multiple Intelligences school (Gardner). Since it’s foundation in 1988, the school has developed a unique, progressive and creative learning environment. With a maximum average class size of 17 students, Matahui Road School has established a record of high achievement in academic, cultural and sporting fields.

Extension for Year 7 and 8 students includes second language opportunity, technology programme at the Tauranga Technology Centre, leadership opportunities, challenging outdoor experiences and involvement in the Tall Poppies Programme provided to meet the social and competitive needs of Year 7/8 students from smaller community schools.

 

Learning in and through the Arts

 

Creative expression is encouraged through all aspects of the curriculum. Learners are introduced to a wide range of media with the aim of empowering them to express their individuality in creative ways.

A rich music programme provides students with opportunities to express their emotions, intellect and imagination. All students receive specialist tuition in recorder/ukelele, marimba and percussion, with ample opportunity for performance.
